Earlier this year we were contacted by Fi Turner from Flight Centre in New Zealand with an unusual request. She had 3 friends who were looking for a safari with a difference. They wanted to do a week of safari at our camps at Gorges and Bomani and then a week of work. Chris McGarry, (McGarry)
John Bolton  (Bolty) and Leonard Gordon (Terry)arrived with Fiona and had a wonderful week enjoying the Falls and Hwange before Fiona departed for home. Then we teamed up  McGarry, Bolty and Terry witha couple of broad shouldered Tsholotsho lads to  reopen and realign the road from Stoffie’s Pan to Hwa Hwa Du Pan. It now runs through a magnificent stand of cathedral like Camelthorns and emerges at Magotsha Nyuchi pan a few kilometres south east of Hwa Hwa Du. Apart from opening up some pristine woodland areas for our walks it will also assist Parks anti poaching teams in accessing this remote portion of the park.  They asked that it be called the Okaihau Road, definitely the only feature around named in Maori!
